Ungafihli ubuso!
Great Zimbabweans let us look at the performance of school children especially in the Gwanda area. We have witnessed a lot of reports about the pathetic performance this just ended year whereby in most schools the pass rate was less than 5%. What are the reasons or factors behind this shocking discovery?
I did my junior education at Datata Primary which has two blocks that have a total of five classrooms.
This school was built sometime before the so called independence and still today there has never been any upgrade. Kids still have to use trees as a "classroom".
In this place the language spoken is Ndebele and Ndebele alone. To my surprise the last time I was there there was two Shona speaking teachers at the school.
I have no problem with Shona but my point is having to teach young Ndebele kids takes a teacher who understands their native language extensively for purposes of explanations.
Now how do they explain English words to these brilliant kids? Is this tribal sabotage? Are we short of teachers who are proficient in Ndebele?
One of the best Teachers College, ZINTEC, is a walking distance from the school yet the school always has temporary untrained teachers Why?
The province is a victim of underdevelopment by the current corrupt and negligent government that is very tribal.
What about the future of these kids that is being compromised at grassroots level. Do we expect to see professionals out of these youngsters or prostitutes and hooligans?
Mugabe travels every five years to beg for votes and go for good until the next election.
We know for a fact he has rigged his way to planting his candidates and declaring victory for himself as president yet the reality is people want nothing to do with ZANU besides a few idiots like Abednico Ncube and compony who are bootilickers.
We should do something about this but I mean no harm to the Shona teachers but just laying out the facts.
Vana ngaavapiwe dzidzo dzakanaka kuiitira hupenyu wemangwana ravo wakanaka!
