ZRP expresses concern over Masvingo crime rate

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has expressed concern over the high numbers of violent crimes such as rape, armed robberies and murder in Masvingo province.
The province has also recorded an increase in crimes of passion.
ZRP Deputy Commissioner-General (Administration) Godwin Matanga said law enforcement authorities are working hard not only to reduce violent crimes but also to curb corruption and other white collar crimes.
In July 2013, two robbers identified as Golden Magwenju (24) and Joseph Makunaka (20) were shot by police after being involved in a shoot out with law enforcement authorities after committing a series of robberies.
On Boxing Day last year, a foreign currency dealer was shot dead by two armed robbers at Ngundu Business Centre.
The two robbers were arrested by police.
