The co-chairperson of Constitution Select Committee (Copac), Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana has encouraged the media to be informative with regards to the constitution-making process rather than concentrate on petty logistical setbacks the committee had been recently experiencing.

Mangwana said this on the sidelines of a Copac workshop for the media and the civil society on thematic committee sittings.

The workshop, which drew a number of participants from various provinces, was held in Masvingo.

Mangwana said the media as the legendary fourth estate should lead by example by covering the technical aspects of the constitution-making process for the benefit of ordinary Zimbabweans, particularly those in rural communities.

The Copac co-chair also challenged the civil society to be proactive in ensuring that they impart information on the importance of a people-driven constitution since they are always on the ground with rural communities.

When asked about how the disabled were to be logistically considered in the constitution-making process, Mangwana pledged to avail materials in brail and large fonts.

The Copac team expects to produce the draft constitution by the 30th September this year.
