MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai's children have apparently vowed not to let his and Elizabeth Macheka's union resuscitate and have also allegedly called her a 'gold digger.'
It is reported that Tsvangirai's children have vowed to Elizabeth that she would never be a recognised 'better half' of their father.
In October last year, Elizabeth left her husband alone at their Highlands home and accommodated herself at the couple's house in Borrowdale's Philadelphia.
After nearly three months of living separately, the Tsvangirai and the Macheka families reportedly met several times and tried to solve the couple's differences.
Elizabeth had alleged in an interview with a State-controlled daily that she temporarily parted ways Tsvangirai over a 'sensitive medical condition' that Tsvangirai has.
Upon solving their differences, with Tsvangirai's cousin and MDC-T's chief representative in the European Community, Hebson Makuvise, plaid a pivotal role to convince Elizabeth to return to her matrimonial home last month but she was reportedly forced out by Tsvasngirai's sons.
"Elizabeth (Macheka) returned home but Tsvangirai's sons told her, in no uncertain terms, that she was not welcome because she is a gold digger.
"Now they (Tsvangirai and Liz) are meeting clandestinely. Tsvangirai's children have also demanded that he leaves politics with one of them openly telling him that he risked his children backing a rival presidential bid in the MDC-T," said a party insider.
Tsvangirai's domestic troubles continue at a time he also faces demands to resign from the opposition MDC-T party.
The 61-year-old politician is reportedly not only being advised to step down by his children, but other senior official in his party including self-exiled treasurer-general Roy Bennet, Alias Mudzuri, Elton Mangoma, Ian Kay and Eddie Cross among others.
When reached for comment, Tsvangirai's spokesperson Luke Tamborinyoka said his boss is still together with Elizabeth.
Tsvangirai's widely reported 'medical condition' that has led to the breaking down of his marriage to Elizabeth has been linked to the former Prime Minister's cancer related spinal cord ailment that a local newspaper exclusively revealed last year, it has emerged.
Tsvangirai had spinal cancer which developed after injuries he sustained in a car accident in the early 1990s.
Tsvangirai's close sources said so dire is this situation that he now uses pillows to support his back when travelling.
"Tsvangirai is not well, we have been told that his spinal cancer is getting bad and that was the reason why he went kwaTB Joshua, it was for treatment," said the source.
Elizabeth, in January told a local daily newspaper that her separation from Tsvangirai had been sparked by "sensitive medical condition" that only the two of them could resolve without interference from relatives, friends or party officials.
"He (Tsvangirai) knows the genesis of the problem, what steps he has been trying in vain to address the situation, including visits to TB Joshua and others.
"The paralysis between us has nothing to do with the outcome of the July 31, 2013 elections, MDC-T, any other political entity, foreign hand or material worth.
"The matter is both personal and circumstantial and only him not even relatives, friends or party comrades can solve," she said.
