Ottilia Sharara (20) from Duma village in Bikita attempted suicide last week by trying to hang herself after her in-laws barred her from visiting her husband in Harare.
The sex starved woman wrote a letter to her husband which is now in Chief Clemence Mupakwa's hands saying she could no longer stand not being with her man.
"Kana ndafa usare zvakanaka. Baba havadi kuti ndiuye kwauri uye kune vamwe vanhu vaunongoterera vasina zvavanotibatsira nazvo kana tapinda mumatambudziko. Kana ndafa musabhadhara vabereki vangu. Mwana wangu Theophilus aende kuchikoro grade one," reads part of the letter.
Sharara`s husband Freddie Nderere (25) refuted the allegations that his father was the main reason behind his wife`s attempted suicide."My woman is possessed with a spirit. The last time when we were in Harare she threatened to kill herself, citing that I should not go to work. She even further promised to kill me and our child Theophilus. We have been consulting prophets for the past weeks all of them are saying that my wife is possessed by a bad spirit. Varikuti mukadzi wangu akasengedzwa Bvuri saka haafanirwi kuroorwa. We consulted these prophets together as two families and her parents are aware of the issue," said Nderere.
The case is set to be heard at Mupakwa`s traditional court next week, after Sharara`s parents failed to turn up for the first trial.
