A man is seeking peace with his wife whom he alleges assaults him and threatens to get him arrested if he retaliates.

Emmanuel Chinhamo claims his wife, Diana Badza physically and verbally assaults him all the time.

He told magistrate Tafadzwa Muvhami that Badza threatens to further harm him if he dumps her.

Chinhamo hauled Badza before the Harare Civil Court seeking a peace order.

He accused her of perpetrating violence at his workplace.

"I divorced her but she is refusing to be divorced," Chinhamo said.

"She assaults me saying if I retaliate she will report me to the police for domestic violence. One day I came home late and she poured hot water on my face."

Chinhamo said he tried to take back Badza to her parents' home but she flatly refused.

He also told the court Badza refused to receive a token of divorce and threatened to further assault him.

Badza rejected her husband's accusations.

She said she knew nothing about the divorce and loves her husband.

"I know nothing at all, he is mine and he comes home enjoying his conjugal rights. We live together and he left home after serving me with the summons," argued Badza.

Badza also said she could not accept divorce because she is three months pregnant.

She also accused Chinhamo of failing to maintain his family, saying he was trying to get rid of her.

Magistrate Muvhami ordered Badza to keep peace with her husband and to desist from physically and verbally abusing him.
