A 58-year-old Nyazura woman from Tekere Village under Chief Makoni was fatally struck by a lightning bolt last Saturday.

Magore had gone to Periodic Bus Stop to collect her parcel which had been sent by her daughter-in-law, Annah Gatsi (32), when the incident took place, the Manicapost reported.

It started raining while she was on her way home and she was struck by a lightning bolt. This was witnessed by Collins Mutsipa (39), who informed other villagers.

Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident and said Annah died on the spot.

Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda said people should take precautions when there is lightning.

He added that people should also desist from walking in places where they are the tallest objects during thunderstorms.
