Chief Madamombe who threatened to evict United Families International Church members from Chivi for allegedly desecrating sacred mountains has gone down on his knees to the church seniors apologizing for his actions.
He is said to have hovelled before the Church's Zvishavane Pastor recently and profusely apologized for taking action against the church.
A source in the church said Madamombe went to the Church and said that he had a dream where God warned him against tormenting the church.
However, elders of his clan are accusing him of receiving bribes from the Church in order to drop the case.
Madamombe confirmed the development and said he revoked his judgment against the church after realizing that UFIC was not a threat to the community.
"I apologized to the church because these people are worshiping a true living God, after all I came to the realization that some of my advisors and the ruling clan are trying to create a dispute between me and the church.
"I have suspended the case; they are still pestering me saying that we should try these people. They are claiming that I should allow them to give a judgment in this case, and failure to do so they promised to try the case and give their own judgment.
"If they are going to work on this case, they will do it at their own Kangaroo court, not at my court. As long as I am alive, nothing of this sort will happen.
"They are accusing me of having received bribes when I went to apologize and they are claiming that they want some portion of the money to rest the case," he added.
"The chief went and apologized to our resident pastor in Zvishavane, for bringing the name of our church into disrepute.
"The apology was accepted and the chief promised to address community members in Madamombe and clear all the false allegations he leveled against our church. At the moment he had not yet fulfilled his promises," said a church member who denied to be named.
