A CHIPINGE man last Friday committed suicide after three goblins he inherited from his father gave him a torrid time. Police confirmed the incident which happened at Chigwidi homestead in Samhutsa Village under Chief Mutema.
It is understood that Mike Thomas Ngonyama (52) died after consuming poison. He complained of having a torrid time at the hands of the goblins he had inherited from his father when he died.
These goblins were to assist him financially, socially and spiritually. It is understood that the goblins refused to eat the meat he used to give them and started demanding human blood and milk.
Deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the story and said Ngonyama stayed with the goblins for nearly a year without facing any problems until they started demanding human blood and milk.
"Ngonyama started facing problems when he failed to provide the human blood and milk that the goblins wanted. He started to face financial problems, experiencing nightmares and he was always fighting with his family, neighbours and friends," said Asst Insp Chananda.
Ngonyama failed to satisfy the goblins and approached a traditional healer from the village. He was told that there was no other option but to do what the goblins wanted or he would face more problems.
Asst Insp Chananda said that on the fateful day, Ngonyama returned home and proceeded to Chipinge Township where he bought the poison. Before consuming the poison, he told his daughter-in-law, Pamela Kudinge (24) of the same village, that he had goblins that were turning his life upside down. He also told her of all the problems he was facing.
After confiding in Kudinge, he went to the toilet and drank the poison. He started complaining of severe stomach pains and he told Kudinge that he had consumed some poison.
She tried first aid on him by giving him fresh milk and cow dung, but his condition deteriorated.
He was rushed to Chipinge District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
