A 49-year-old Norton woman who stands accused of helping her husband to rape her 13-year-old sister has been arraigned before the court.

Rosina Langson (49) and her husband Business Chigama (65) last week appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe facing rape charges.

The court heard that Langson suggested that her husband sleep with her 13-year-old sister as she was too ill to offer him his conjugal rights.

Prosecutor Miss Sharon Mashavira alleged that during the period between March 8 2013 and March 14 2013 at Plot 42 Lothian Farm in Norton, Chigama raped the juvenile several times with the assistance of his wife. Before the rape, Langson allegedly asked the juvenile to "fill in" for her when it came to sleeping with her husband as she was ill.

The juvenile is said to have refused to do so and briefly fled from home. However, when she came back both her sister and Chigama force- marched her to their bedroom and threatened her with assault in the she continued to turn down their proposal.

After failing to make headway, the pair is said to have convinced the juvenile to sleep on the floor in their bedroom.

In her statement to the police the juvenile said she was awakened by Chigama who was forcibly removing her skirt and pants while her sister pinned her to the ground.

Chigama is said to have raped the juvenile once that night.

After the act, the court heard, Langson told her young sister that she expected her to be intimate with Chigama for six more days.

Chigama is said to have raped the juvenile on several occasions during those six days while Langson held her legs.

The victim is said to have told a close relative her ordeal early this year and a police report was made.

Langson and Chigama were remanded out of custody on US$50 bail each and will appear in court on February 24 for continuation of trial.
