The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has condemned in strongest terms the bashing of the MDC-T Deputy Treasury General, Elton Mangoma and the party's Secretary General, Tendai Biti by some party youths in Harare on Saturday and alleges that the violence vindicates some previous ZRP reports that most of the politically motivated violence was perpetrated by the MDC-T..
Reports say some youths allegedly aligned to party leader, Morgan Tsvangirai assaulted and injured Mangoma while Biti escaped unhurt in the attack which occurred at the end of a meeting between the national leadership and district chairpersons of the party.
In a media statement, National Police Spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the hooligans and those who cause violence face arrest.
She however said no arrests have been made in connection with the case as no formal complaint has been made by the aggrieved parties.
She said the intra-party violence that characterised the MDC-T's headquarters in Harare vindicates some previous police reports that most of the politically motivated violence was perpetrated by the party.
