A Bindura man, Daniel Cohen Nyandoro (29) have been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife [Tendai Ganya] after she told him that her life would have been better off had she not married him.

Nyandoro is suspected to have assaulted Ganya before strangling her and stashing her body in a bush.

Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Memory Pamire said the two argued on Sunday last week as they were going to church.

"On the day in question, the couple was driving from Harare to Bindura," she said. "Daniel pulled over to the roadside after the vehicle ran out of fuel.

"A misunderstanding ensued after the deceased accused him of causing the challenges they were facing because he came from a poor family.

"She also said she would have been better off if she had not married him." Insp Pamire said Nyandoro, it is alleged, subsequently assaulted and killed her.

He then allegedly dragged her body for about 25 metres before dumping it in the bush.

"After committing the offence, Nyandoro returned to the vehicle and called for help on the pretext that his wife was missing.

"He then met a man who lives in a nearby village.

"The man's name is Kedio Chinyani."

It is understood Mr Chinyani became suspicious.

He, nonetheless, assembled a search party while Nyandoro rushed to make a police report.

The case was later referred to Bindura police after the body was discovered last Wednesday. Insp Pamire said the corpse had several bruises. "The head and face were swollen. A cloth was tied around her neck, showing evidence of strangulation."
