A SEVEN-YEAR marriage of a Mutare couple is irretrievably broken down after the husband filed for divorce following the wife's alleged love affair with a Christ Embassy Church leader in the city's Hobhouse high-density suburb.
Fungai Mukwena, the 32-year-old man who resides at Marlborough Court in Mutare and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, recently visited The Manica Post offices and bared it all, accusing the church leader of ruining his marriage to Ennah Mukwena, a Mutare City Council employee. So emotional was Fungai during the interview that he struggled to contain himself as he chronicled how Ennah and the church leader  joined hands to destroy his marriage. In his affidavit which The Weekender is in possession of, Fungai stated that the church leader (name supplied) allegedly infected Ennah with a sexually transmitted disease before she subsequently transmitted it to him. He also stated that he had been living a miserable life because of the illicit relationship which started last year. "In 2012 mid-November, I was invited on Facebook by the church leader's wife. She sent me a message saying my wife was in love with her husband. She said they had fought in the church leader's office. My wife's phone was broken and the marriage ring was taken by the church leader's wife. I was in Johannesburg when this was happening . . . My wife admitted that it was true that she was in love with the church leader. The church leader's wife agreed to come to my house at Number 9, Marlborough Court and Ennah apologised to her. I thought it was over," reads part of the affidavit.
Interestingly, Ennah and the church leader are former lovers and were madly in love before Fungai married her. The church leader confirmed that they were once an item before Ennah got married, but denied having an affair with her now. "She is just a friend. We are not lovers. I respect her as a married woman. Before they got married she was my girlfriend. Kana makambodanana hamutadzi kuita mafriends. We usually communicate when doing business since I am a businessman and work for myself. I do not know where the grudge is coming from. I realised that she was double crossing us before I left her for him (Fungai). I advised him to go to the courts and sue me if he has any evidence and I am waiting for that. We will meet in court," said the church leader. But a bitter Fungai has settled for a divorce. He feels betrayed. "My love for her is dead. I can't think twice on this. This is clear betrayal. I sent Ennah to Midlands State University in 2006 and I contributed immensely to who she is now," he said.
