A Harare woman left the court gallery shell-shocked when she narrated how her husband stole their children's undergarments and sold them to get money to buy an illicit brew popularly known as ZED.

Zivanai Tinago has since appeared at the Harare Civil Courts where she was seeking a protection order against her husband Silas Lingwe.

"He steals our children's clothes, panties and soap so that he can sell them to buy ZED. Because of that, I always move around with the wardrobe keys to prevent him from taking anything which he can sell," she said.

"When drunk, he places a bottle of cold water on my face to wake me up insisting he wants to tell me of all my wrongdoings. ZED is the main problem in our marriage and his relatives have failed (to control) him," Tinago said sending the gallery into fits of laughter.

According to the Herald, she further narrated that Lingwe could even take off his clothes and sell them to get money for the illicit beer.

"I am contemplating moving out so that he can drink until he is satisfied. He can come back afterwards because I cannot take it anymore.

He can even take off the jacket he is wearing and sell it," she said.

Upon being asked by Harare magistrate Mr Tafadzwa Muvhami if he could let ZED ruin his marriage, Lingwe said he was prepared to quit the illegal spirit.

"I have nothing against her application and I can stop drinking ZED today," he said.

Mr Muvhami ruled in Tinago's favour saying he was barred from physically and verbally abusing his wife and desist from stealing in the matrimonial home.

Meanwhile, a Harare woman yesterday made shocking revelations that she bit her husband on his hand and assaulted him for demanding unprotected sex from her.

Abigail Bonde said this at the Harare Civil Courts where she was seeking a peace order against her husband Liberty Makore.

"Your Worship, I am pleading with the court to protect me from physical and verbal abuse from my husband. We have been living as husband and wife for more than nine years," Bonde said.

"We have a child together and have constructed a matrimonial home together and bought some property. I bit him on his hand recently because he was forcing me to have unprotected sex after he went away for five days.

Harare magistrate Mr Tafadzwa Muvhami deferred the matter to today for trial.

"I also sustained injuries after he attacked me and as a result he wants me to move out of our matrimonial home," Bonde told the court.
