MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai's former aide Alex Magaisa has come to the defence of Philip Chiyangwa's daughter Vannessa from attacks over her Harare sex shop where she sells adult toys and lingerie.

The flamboyant businessman's daughter was in the hogged media headlines at the weekend over her [peep shows in the capital with the censorship board saying practice was illegal and some accusing her of promoting immorality.

"I have just read a story regarding a young lady (Vanessa Chiyangwa) who is making a name for herself in the business of selling adult toys, to use language easier on conservative tongues. The Censorship Board led, we recently learnt, by a 93-year old, is not amused," Magaisa said.

"Personally, I think this idea of Zimbabwe being a conservative society is overplayed. A lot of hypocrisy goes on in our society. I would like to know why traditional healers and prophets who for years have sold traditional herbs that are touted as being capable of enhancing performance in adult games and in some cases extending man hoods have not attracted the attention of the Censorship Board (they even advertise in newspapers)."

Magaisa said there was enough in the country's constitution to protect the young businesswoman's right to conduct her business.

"If banned, I hope she challenges the constitutionality of the prohibition - I would offer my services as a friend of the court for no fee, in cash or in kind. Apart from that, clearly, the business has a market whose needs are being satisfied, no pun intended, Magaisa said.

"And I have to say, the name of the restaurant at which she plies part of her trade couldn't be more appropriate. It is called Vukani Restaurant!"
