Two men from Chiredzi, Salani Tshenzele (38) and Philemon Lisenge (32) have appeared before High Court Judge Susan Mavangira for stoning a neighbour to death who they accused of having an affair with Tshenzele's daughter.
The deceased Enock Sibanda was 20 when he met his fate. Prosecutor Tinaishe Matenga told the court that on December 25, 2011 Sibanda was drinking beer at Chaichi bottle store in Tshovani on Christmas day.
Tshenzele in company of Lisenge approached Sibanda and started accusing him of having an affair with Tshenzele's daughter.
Allegations are that a brawl started and other patrons intervened and stopped the fight. One of the friends of the deceased took him and locked Sibanda away in a bedroom hut.
The court heard that after some time Sibanda came out from his bedroom and Tshenzele saw him coming out from his room and struck him with a stone in the head.
Tinaye told the court that Sibanda then fell down and Lisenge then joined Tshenzele to assault the complainant. Later in the night Sibanda fell unconscious. A report was made to Ndali police station whereupon the deceased was referred to Ndali clinic.
Upon arrival Sibanda was referred to Chiredzi hospital and then referred to Bulawayo United Hospital where he died upon admission. A post-mortem was conducted and it was concluded that Sibanda died due to skull fracture, head injury and assault.
