Woman gives birth to egg after nine months pregnancy

29-year-old Monica Morisoni from Rimuka village in Kadoma, Zimbabwe, has allegedly given birth to an egg instead of a baby at the Kadoma General Hospital after nine months pregnancy.
The Mashonaland West police spokesperson, Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara, has confirmed the incident.
The woman apparently lives in her parent's home and was preparing to get married to David Kwelenta who got her pregnant.
On the day, Monica left for Rimuka Maternity Home in great pain and was then referred to Kadoma General Hospital.
She was previously married and had two children but one passed away before she reportedly had an affair with David who has a wife, Insp Mabgweazara said.
Because of the affair, Monica apparently has had some issues with David's wife, who has not been identified.
Insp Mabgweazara says that police are investigating if the egg came out of the woman or not.
There are claims that she could have put the egg inside her for unknown reasons,
However, Monica told Kwayedza that she did indeed give birth to an egg.
She says that David denied that the pregnancy was his and that is when she decided to go and live with him but his wife threatened her.
She claims that she did not register her pregnancy because David would not give her money to do so.
The egg was given to Monica's relatives, icluding her mother Sikholiwe Chipunza (46) and her younger sister Florence Morisoni who cracked it to see what was inside.
Monica says that the egg looked exactly like a chicken's but blood came out when she have birth to it.
Relatives said that Monica was unable to pay her fees of US$128 and the head of police in Kadoma Chief Superitendent Israel Makuvaza says investigations are ongoing but he says the woman did not break her waters or bleed as would be expected.
He suggests that she may not have been pregnant but put the egg in so as to imply that David's wife is involved in witchcraft.
He further implied that that Monica may have wanted the wife to be sent away so that she would remain as David's wife.
Nevertheless, Monica insists that she bled and her waters broke when she gave birth to the egg.
Monica's neighbour, Sebia Mupoto (30), says that Monica's tummy would appear big at one point and then small again, prompting many questions.
Monica's mother says that it is likely that Monica faces arrest because of suspicions that she may have lied about her pregnancy.
David's mother, Loice Kwelenta (67), confirmed Monica and David's relationship but says that he has disappeared and no one knows where he is.
She said that she did not know about the egg but wishes she had been told since it also came form her son.
She added that she prefers Monica as a daughter-in-law and if she had another son, she would give Monica to him.
Apparently another woman, Brenda Kaurayi (31) from the same area also gave birth to an egg back in 2011.
Friday Chisanyu, the head of Zimbabwe National Practitioners Association, said that these cases were possible because there were herbs available.
