The United States has provided $750 000 towards the displaced villagers downstream of the flooding Tokwe-Mukosi Dam in Masvingo.
US Ambassador Bruce Wharton said the fund was channelled through the International Organisation on Migration (IOM).
"I am proud to say that the U.S. is providing support to those in need at Tokwe Mukosi through the $750,000 we have provided to the IOM (International Organization on Migration).
"We have had a disaster relief specialist from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) here for the last week who has been on site and working in close cooperation with IOM and Zimbabwe's excellent Civilian Protection Unit," Wharton said.
"While challenges remain, and we are prepared to respond to those as well, outcomes are looking better."
More than 1 000 people have been moved from their homesteads downstream of Tokwe-Mukosi Dam as the levels of water continued to rise due to incessant rains experienced in the past weeks.
