MDC leader Welshman Ncube has put his differences with Alderman Charles Mpofu aside and mourned the former Bulawayo deputy Mayor who died at on the early hours of Monday.
Mpofu was one of the MDC officials who left the party in protest of party secretary general Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga's inclusion in the national assembly under the women's quota for Matabeleland South province.
The outspoken politician who stood for MDC in the Nketa constituency in last year's elections accused Ncube of leadership failure.
But Ncube said he was saddened by Mpofu's untimely death.
"On behalf of MDC, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ald. Charles Mpofu," Ncube said.
"We valued his contribution to the devolution agenda during the time he was with the party, both as a member and as Parliamentary candidate for Nketa in the previous general elections.
"We will miss his robust engagements in the democratic struggle. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time."
