Star FM presenter Munyaradzi Milimo and his two alleged accomplices in a kidnapping and murder case yesterday appeared in court for their routine remand.
Milimo, better known as DJ Munya, Taurai Janhi and Mohammed Matare are accused of kidnapping and murdering Tinashe Magorimbo through poisoning.
They are expected back in court on March 18.
In January, Harare magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei eased the trio's bail conditions.
This came after their lawyer Mr Archbold Madzima made an application for relaxation of reporting conditions and another for the release of Janhi's passport.
Mr Madzima argued that eight months had elapsed since the matter appeared before the court, yet the State, led by prosecutor Ms Sharon Mashavira, had failed to provide a trial date.
Mr Ndirowei ordered the trio to report once every month at Harare CID homicide, while Janhi's passport which had been temporarily released was returned to the court yesterday. Ms Mashavira alleged that Magorimbo was murdered after failing to pay DJ Munya $4 000 compensation for having an affair with his wife.
Magorimbo allegedly paid DJ Munya $1 000 in February through Janhi and Matare as part payment of the $5 000 settlement they had agreed on.
DJ Munya allegedly commissioned Janhi and Matare to "deal" with Magorimbo after he had become evasive over the outstanding payment, it is alleged.
In May 2013, Magorimbo disappeared and David Mandishona, one of his superiors at work, allegedly received a text message demanding $5 000 ransom for his safe return.
That same day, DJ Munya allegedly went to Magorimbo's residence and assured the wife of the deceased, Millicent, that her husband would soon return and she should not contact the police.
The next day, Magorimbo showed up at home undressed and staggering with his hands tied with a shoelace and collapsed.
Magorimbo was rushed to West End Hospital in Harare where he was diagnosed with poisoning and died on the same day.
The trio were granted $300 bail apiece on June 13 by High Court judge Justice Joseph Musakwa.
