Zimbabwe law is weak and in-exhaustive in dealing with gays and lesbians, said Prosecutor-General, Johannes Tomana.

Asked on whether the current law also criminalises groupings such as the Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe, Tomana said they can be found guilty by association as it is the same as someone who assists in the commission of a rape case.

They are equally culpable as an accomplice to the crime and the fact that the law enforcement agents have not arrested them does not mean that their existence is not criminal, said Tomana.

President Robert Mugabe threw his weight behind Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni after he passed a law that criminalises homosexuality.
