Chinamasa clarifies Pasi's stay in office

Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa says commissioner-general of the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority Gershem Pasi was re-appointed after passing [a series of interviews and undergoing a thorough screening process.

Chinamasa said this in Parliament on Tuesday in response to a question by MDC-T Kambuzuma legislator, Willas Madzimure who wanted to know why Pasi, despite the expiry of his term, was still at the helm of Zimra.

Chinamasa said the Zimra board, which came in as completely new board on July 15 2010 resolved to readvertise the post on the commissioner-general when Pasi's term of office was due to expire on October 31 2013, Pasi was eligible to apply for the readvertised post and he and two other candidates were eventually shortlisted for the job.
