Zim committed to the abolishment of the death penalty

Zimbabwe is fully committed to the abolishment of the death penalty and has done a lot during the past 12 months to uphold human rights.

This was said by the minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Emmerson Mnangagwa during a presentation at the 25th session of the Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday.

The Human Rights Sessions are held annually by United Nations Human Rights Commission with representatives from various member countries giving keynote addresses on the progress made in upgrading promotion of human rights in their respective states.

The sessions which began on March 4 will end on the 28th.

Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe had made considerable strides in uplifting human rights issues under the new constitution.
