Chiyangwa's company cancels 1 441 home seekers' lease agreements

Flamboyant Harare businessman Phillip Chiyangwa's property company Pinnacle Holdings yesterday said it had cancelled lease agreements for 1 441 home seekers at its Stone Ridge housing scheme in Harare accusing the lessees of failing to pay the agreed monthly premiums.

In a notice published yesterday, the company gave the affected families seven days to vacate the properties to pave way for new buyers.

Contacted for comment, Chiyangwa was evasive over the issue, saying: "I have 51 companies to run and I don't know about that. If a person doesn't pay, you can't stay in town for free. Where I stay I pay for water and electricity unless if you are a fish or bird, you can then stay in town for free.

"Pinnacle has a managing director, you can go to their offices and check more details. I have several businesses. Yes, I popularised it and it's now a brand, but there are people there."

However, the company's management could not be reached for comment.
