Baby was sired by your brother, wife tells hubby

A 17-YEAR-OLD juvenile in Masvingo was beaten to a pulp by her husband after she told him that the baby that the couple had was sired by the man's brother.

Jacob Matiza (23) of Village 4 Barahanga under Chief Mugabe pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic violence when he appeared before Masvingo magistrate Mr Oliver Mudzongachiso. He was, however, found guilty due to overwhelming evidence and sentenced to 25 days in prison.

Prosecuting, Mr Jonathan Mundondo said on 12 February at around 10.35pm Matiza and his wife were in the living room having a discussion after which an argument ensued.

The argument intensified until the woman told Matiza that he was sterile and the six-month-old baby she had belonged to his brother. Matiza got angry and asked his wife to accompany him to his brother's homestead to confirm whether he was the real father or not.

The wife, however, refused and that angered Matiza who locked the door from inside. After locking the door he assaulted her with a log, slapped and kicked her.
