Kombi crew kill bus driver

A bus driver in was recently killed by a commuter omnibus crew in a fierce argument at Mbare Musika rank.

Albert Gotora (30) and Calisto Muchemeyi (33) along with their accomplice John Manga who has since disappeared, were arrested and brought before Mbare magistrates' court charged with murder.

Albert and Calisto stood before magistrate Stanford Mambanje charged with murder.

The pair was not asked to plead to the charge and was advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

It is alleged that on 25 February Canny Ncube was blocked by the duo who used a commuter omnibus they were loading.

Apparently the kombi crew attacked Canny Ncube after an altercation leading to his death immediately after the assault.

Ncube who was employed by Tenda Bus Company intended to head for Mutare on the day in question.

The State alleges that at the height of the misunderstanding, the pair ruthlessly bashed Ncube and head butted him.

However, he started complaining of a headache before being referred to a clinic for medication.

Unfortunately Ncube died on the same day he was assaulted.

A police report was made leading to the arrest of the duo whilst their accomplice escaped.

According to the State, there are witnesses who are ready and willing to testify in the matter and a post mortem report has indicated that Ncube died of head trauma.

Prosecutor Vincent Chikerema is representing the State.
