MDC-T's Harare province spokesperson, Obert Gutu has questioned the decision by Biti to hold a press conference at his law firm offices.
"When a very senior party official nicodemously addresses a press conference behind the backs of his colleagues and lacks the courage of his conviction to speak out his mind in a national council meeting," he wrote on his Facebook page.
"He has actually committed a very serious and punishable breach of the party constitution"
"You know something very fishy is happening behind the scenes when ZBC TV gives a Zanu-PF political "adversary" ten (10) minutes of virtually uninterrupted positive coverage on their prime time News Hour bulletin.
Some of us saw it coming....(OPERATION SUBDUE)."
In another veil attack on Biti, Obert Gutu wrote, "When you start to openly and publicly admit that the man next door is a better husband and father than yourself ; then you should know that you have passed a vote of no confidence in your very own capabilities as a husband and father..!!
And the next thing for you to do is to immediately try to be a better husband and father or alternatively, to ship out...honourably."
Obert Gutu alleges that,
"THE PUPPET IS GONE...!!
NOW WE GO FOR THE PUPPETEER....!!!" (Which according to his facebook pots can point to one person)
Another Facebook post by Obert Gutu read, "Comrades and friends....just be careful!! There is OPERATION SUBDUE and we know the prime movers behind this wicked but relentless exercise to weaken, decimate and ultimately collapse the people's project.
"There is real big money involved in this project.Unfortunately, some of our erstwhile very senior comrades were found with their hands deep in the cookie jar during the GNU era and now it's payback time..!!!"
Gutu received mixed reactions from his facebook followers.
Discent Collins Bajila wrote, "The mood at the Animal Farm was both timid and jubilant the night Snowball was sacked. Some animals celebrated the ouster of a traitor while others feared they might be next. Meanwhile Napoleon had a peaceful sleep."
Black Technocrat responded, "I see nothing fishy about the national broadcaster telling the nation of the fratricidal carnage in a Zimbabwean political institution. If you do not want the ZBC TV to say anything, may I suggest you avoid acting in a way that feeds the beast? As Chinua Achebe used to say, you cannot drag a log with ants into your hut and then be surprised when lizards visit the same hut."
Simbarashe Manhanga added, "If it is newsworthy senator and it helps Zanu-PF then it will be on ZTV 24/7. You should know that by now. As a party, avoid such actions that feeds your oppositions media with ready made supper such as MDC-t is currently serving to Zanu pf and hence ZTV."
On a lighter note, Daniel Muzenda said, "Ngaaende Biti vanomudako kuZanu-PF."
Owen Chiyangwa waded into the debate, "If Mangoma have been charged for bringing the name of our good party, Biti shld also face the full wrath of the party discipline for doing worst things like holding an unsanctioned press-con to undermine the national council resolution cuz it went aganist his wishes. Fire Biti now or he shall finish off what is left of the party."
Cousin George Mike, "The Mdc is full of ambitious individuals, there are those who are now sounding so patriotic to the party but we know in their hearts of hearts they are already eying certain party posts. They are fighting so hard that Biti and party leave the MDC for their selfish reasons! We can read between the lines and we know how phony loyalty sounds like."
Bruce Mutsvairo was unapologetic, he said, "Plato once said: Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something. These are just unsubstantiated, utopian claims of yours. Biti is not, has not and will never be Zanu-PF. He is not wanted there. If Tendai Biti is Zanu-PF, please show us the evidence. And if you really have the balls why don't go approach Biti himself and tell him what your thoughts are. Why are you washing your dirty linen on Facebook? Surely if there is anything fishy about Biti giving a 10-minute interview to ZBC, then there is something equally disturbing about you sharing your thoughts here on FB. Be a man. You have Biti's number. Why don't you call him and discuss your issues. Biti stands against dictatorship in the MDC and most intellectuals are with him. You are very clever guy. I am appalled why you are supporting the same dictatorship that you have made us believe you were fighting against since 1999.
Thabani Mpofu wrote, "Mukoma Obert. You make very serious allegations against people that you do not name.I think Cassias Mpofu's points are worth heedind. You run the risk of being misconstrued as inciting violence against those you accuse of seeking to derail what you refer to as the people'd project. having known you for some time, I am sure you do not advocate for the beating up of political opponents no matter how much you dislike them and how strongly you may be opposed to their views. Being a democrat, I know that you do not want your party to descend to levels where it becomes a crime to have aspirations to be the leader of the party, an allegation you have levelled against Zanu-PF. You might want to state your views very clearly on these issues so that the gullible amongst your many followers will not misconstrue your posts."
Obert Gutu responded to Thabani Mpofu saying, "I am not advocating violence against anyone. If anything, I loathe violence. That said, I reiterate, even more forcefully this time around, that some very senior people were caught with their hands deep in the cookie jar during their tenure in the GNU. Whoever feels that they have been defamed by my accusation is very much at liberty to take appropriate legal action against me. I will spill the beans on their corrupt deals. In fact, I will match them pound for pound.Trust me."
Biti, who could not be reached for comment yesterday, declared Mangoma's purported suspension null and void saying as secretary general of the party, it was him who was supposed to have laid charges against the deputy treasurer-general in the first place - which he had not done.
