Popular fast food outlet, Strides Restaurant, owned by ZANU PF 's Gwanda central legislator Edson Gumbo has been forced out of a building belonging to Transport minister Obert Mpofu owing to high rentals now being charged.
Mpofu last year bought a building from Forbes and Thompson and shocked tenants when he increased rentals by over 100%.
Part of the vast building is currently undergoing renovations and Mpofu's blue eyed boy,Ward 9 Councilor Thulani Moyo is overseeing the facelift.
Gumbo who once owned a Guest house in the same building had to shut it down last year after Mpofu increased rentals astronomical.
Gwanda mayor, Knowledge Ndlovu also of Zanu PF who ran a butchery in Mpofu's building was also forced out of the building due to an increase in rentals.
Other entrepreneurs have also abandoned trade saying Mpofu's rentals were abnormal and unsustainable.
Strides Restaurant was among the leading food outlets in the town and provided food at an affordable price.
Ironically Mpofu's party has been clamouring for the empowerment of black Zimbabweans.
