The reported purging for members calling for leadership renewal within MDC-T has deepened with reports that the Harare provincial structures have fired three members of its executive.
According to MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Obert Gutu the three are provincial chairperson Solomon Madzore, secretary Willias Madzimure and organising secretary Tichaona Munyanyi.
Ironically, Madzore has penned a number of praise songs for MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
"The MDC Harare Provincial Council held a meeting at Harvest House on Monday evening, March 17,2014 and all the councillors from all the party districts in Harare province unanimously passed a vote of NO confidence in Paul Madzore, the provincial chairperson, Willas Madzimure, the provincial secretary and Tichaona Munyanyi, the provincial organizing secretary," Gutu said in a statement.
Tendai Biti, the MDC-T secretary-general who has also been targeted by Tsvangirai loyalists, has criticised the purging of provincial executives perceived to be in favour of leadership renewal.
Some provincial leaders in Manicaland have been suspended on allegations that they were destabilising the party.
MDC-T national chairperson Lovemore Moyo on Sunday called on those opposed to Tsvangirai to leave the party saying the movement was a voluntary organisation.
