5:10pm, 19 Mar - +263 7* *** ****: There is serious victimization of teachers at Sinsundu Secondary School which is situated 65km before Binga Centre.
The Headmaster of the school Mr. LS Kabome, The deputy Mr. L Chuma, the Senior master Mr T Mwembwe, HOD Commercials Mr. C Mpande, HOD Practicals Mr. M Munkuli, the 1974 born headboy are all members of the ZANU PF party.
Those who are not Zanu PF members are labelled as sell outs who are at a wrong place. Promotions are done at Tribal level where only those who are Tonga are eligible for promotion. All the HODs are Tonga, Munkuli L, Munkuli M, Mupande C, Tshombe and Mudimba A.
At Mondays and Fridays briefings teachers are demonised by the head who is capable of talking about personal issues that have nothing to do with work and are not even included in the circular. The recent victims of this tribalism and victimisation are [names supplied] who was moved to an anex Lubanda Sec School where the living conditions are an eye sore.
Three other teachers [names supplied] were moved to an anex Zambezi Sec School where living conditions are cause for concern. The school's SDC has not comitted itself to alleviating the plight of teachers. With heavy rains that covered most parts of the country where Binga was not an exception teachers from Zambezi were faced with a nightmare of sleeping in the classrooms since the houses were leaking. The teachers in question tried to inquire from the Head of the mother school on the criteria used to select those who were suppossed to move to the annexes by the response was so bad.
The teachers were told to comply or
consider resigning. The schools do not have electricity. Zambezi is 15
km off the main road and transport is a problem.
Lubanda is 7km off the main road. The teacher have to walk all the distance at night to get transport to Bulawayo since a majority of them are from Bulawayo.
The DEO Mr. Masungo was alerted about the problems at Siansundu but has been dragging his feet.
The Head was defeated in the Zanu PF Primary elections where he wanted to contest as a member of parliament.
The Senior Master Mr. Mwembe was defeated in the council elections.
These people are frustrated politically and are venting their frustrations on wrong people.
