ZAPU Condolence Message: Mrs Pamela Tekere and the Tekere Family

ZAPU joins the nation is mourning the passing on of veteran nationalist and freedom fighter Edgar Zivanai Tekere.
Zimbabwe has lost a dedicated and principled leader who never tolerated leadership failure, during and after the struggle, and continued to make that demand upon the leadership up to his last day on earth. Tekere always insisted on responsibility and accountability on the part of leadership to fulfill the objectives that the people struggled and died for. To Tekere, mutual respect and a common vision and ideology was more important than just liking each other.
On behalf of Zapu, and indeed my own behalf, please accept our sincere condolences.
May Edgar Tekere's spirit continue to guide us during this critical moment facing Zimbabwe, when all the freedom that Tekere fought for is under serious threat.
May his soul rest in peace.
