Man stabs self to death over long illness

FAILURE to stomach the pain induced by long illness forced a Chimanimani man to commit suicide by stabbing himself several times with a kitchen knife.
It is alleged that George Nyahuni (37) of Mukwee Village in Chief Chikukwa's area stabbed himself to death last week with a knife after being fed up of long illness.
According to police, Nyahuni was fed up with his prolonged illness which prompted him to end his life.
"Nyahuni had been ill for a long time and has been telling people how he wanted so much to end his life and rest forever," said deputy Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda.
It is alleged that on the fateful day, Nyahuni was sleeping in his bedroom together with Munyaradzi, his brother. He woke up and informed his brother that he wanted to relieve himself.
Family members said Munyaradzi later realised that George had not returned to bed and was also disturbed with some strange noises that were coming from the veranda.
They discovered George bleeding profusely from his stomach and was holding a kitchen knife. He died on the spot and a police report was made.
