MDC-T officials Julius Magarangoma and Pishai Muchauraya, who were suspended for insubordination last week, have refused to vacate office.
The MDC-T last week suspended provincial chairperson Magarangoma and provincial party spokesperson Muchauraya over insubordination.
MDC-T national spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora confirmed the pair's suspension, saying they had posted hate speech on social media. Former Mutare West legislator Shuah Mudiwa was appointed acting provincial chairperson.
National Organizing Secretary Nelson Chamisa is expected in Mutare tomorrow (Friday) to dissolve the executive and appoint new office bearers. The two officials recently declared their support for deputy treasurer Elton Mangoma's calls for leadership renewal and for party president Morgan Tsvangirai to step down.
"Yes, I received the (suspension) letter, but I am insisting that I am still at the helm of the party in Manicaland. I am still in charge," said Magarangoma.
"I do not understand what they seek to achieve by creating the impression that I am on suspension when I am not."
Muchauraya denied having been served with a suspension letter.
"I know there are some people pushing for my ouster but they will not succeed. Who can suspend me? Mwonzora is my recruit! His membership card bears my signature," he said.
"Come to our offices any time and see who is calling the shots," he added.
Muchauraya said the conduct of Chamisa and Mwonzora should be investigated.
"They are spreading such falsehoods to the media and creating parallel structures within MDC-T Manicaland. This must be investigated thoroughly," said Muchauraya.
