An accident that happened in the early hours of Monday morning along Simon Mazorodze Road has left a lot of unanswered questions as the victims of the car crash took to their heels soon after.
Harare residents who use the road to get to the Central Business District were surprised to see a wrecked vehicle in Pioneer Cemetery.
Eyewitnesses say the accident happened in the early hours of the morning, and that the driver and his passenger took to their heels after recovering from their initial shock.
The vehicle, a silver Toyota Noah, is believed to have been speeding, before the driver lost control veering out of the road before ramming into the pre-cast wall at the cemetery.
People who got to the accident scene after it occurred suspect the driver and his passenger were ferrying illegal cargo because they were seen rushing away carrying sacks of unspecified goods.
Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Charity Charamba said investigations into the accident are underway, and the police will only issue a comment after the full details of the case are brought before her.
