President Mugabe has said a nationwide campaign involving various sectors in society is needed to fight women and child sexual abuse saying imposition of stiffer penalties alone would not reduce incidences of the crime.

President Mugabe said this while officiating at the belated commemorations of the International Women's Day.

He said according to weekly briefings he receives from ZRP Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri, cases of child sexual abuse were prevalent.
