Ditched hubby 'rapes ex-wife at knife point'

A jilted man reportedly raped his ex-wife at knife point, threatening to kill her, a Harare court heard yesterday.

Bigboy Nkoma allegedly forced his ex-wife (name withheld for ethical reasons) to bed him or face the knife.

The ex-wife yesterday hauled Nkoma before the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against him.

She told magistrate Tatenda Manhanzva that Nkoma assaults her whenever he sees her with another man but the two separated two years ago.

"Biggie visited my house and assaulted my mother and brother," she complained.

"He then took a knife and forced me to have sex with him threatening to kill me after the act. I reported the matter to the police and they advised me to come to court.

"He does not want to see me in the company of any man. He assaults me and was recently arrested for assault after he saw me walking with another man."

She told the court that Nkoma accuses her of bed-hopping and regularly assaults her.

Nkoma strenuously denied his ex-wife's allegations.  He said he has never threatened her with any form of violence.

"She is lying. I took the knife because I wanted to cut the plastics which I sell but  I did not threaten her," Nkoma said.

"I only assaulted the man she was walking with because we had a grudge with the man."

Magistrate Manhanzva ordered Nkoma to stop verbally and physically abusing her.

She also ordered him to observe peace towards her and refrain from threatening her in any way.
