A Harare's Crowborough man is bitter after allegedly losing his wife to his neighbour whom he trusted as a neighbour and nephew.
Willmore Taonei said he got to know of the illicit affair between his wife Sithule Nyathi and Charles Marima from his Grade One child who told him that they had gone for Christmas holidays in Gweru with the alleged home wrecker.
Nyathi has since disputed the claims, saying Taonei was forcing her to sleep with him yet he is suspected to be suffering from a sexually transmitted infection. She said she could not risk her life and that she was happy to leave him.
Marima could not be reached for comment as he was not picking his mobile phone. Efforts to locate him at his house were futile as he was said not to be though though word was awash in the suburb that the two were allegedly mad in love.
Claims are that Marima disappeared from his house, presumably out of shame, after the whole issue blew up in the neighbourhood. Other reports are that he had gone to church (kunoreurura).
Taunei had been contracted by Marima to build his house as 'relatives'. Marima is reported to have been frequenting Taonei's house.
"He would come here as a relatiove not knowing that he had other plans. In December my wife's sister in Gweru called me requesting to have her for the Christmas holiday. I didn't know that they went together. I got to know of the issue after my child told me that they went with him to Gweru," he said.
The man added that when his wife came back home, she started denying him sex and they had a meeting which was chaired by Marima as a nephew. He claimed that the woman also became protective of her cellphone.
"She was just acting funny and jittery. She also became protective of her cellphone. She would refuse to sleep with me and it became an issue. Some elders were called and Marima was called as muzukuru (nephew) to solve the issue. The two would wink at each other during the meeting," he said.
reports are that Taonei got another building contract in Zimre Park and he left home. When he returned he found his wife gone. She reportedly looted the house and his money forcing him to open a case of theft against her.
Nyathi in an interview said it was a matter of sour grapes as Taonei was trying to tarnish people's images. She described Taonei as violent and said she was at peace and now in Bulawayo.
"We have been having problems and the final clash occurred when I went to Gweru to my sister's house. Maruma is just a neighbour and such allegations are false. I returned from Gweru on 3 January and we have been sleeping together. On the third time he told me that his privates were itching. I advised that he goes to the clinic but he refused. I went there alone and I was told I was clean. I even showed him my card but he refused to get treated. He then demanded to have sex with me but I refused and it degenerated into chaos. He then told me to pack all my belongings and leave. We engaged some elders in the neighbourhood to solve the issue and Marima was mediator," she said.
Taonei has been accused of sending his son to Gweru where he allegedly stole her panties and passport. His wife also accused him of being violent and using weapons during fights.
"he tried fabricating some issued and sought a protection order which was dismissed. Now he is suing me at a criminal court, accusing me of theft. It's not the first time that he has made such accusations of prostitution. Now is also trying to tarnish Marima's image," she said.
