Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Obert Mpofu will conduct a tour of provinces assessing the extent of damage on the roads and bridges due to heavy rains that pounded the country.
Mpofu said his ministry would liaise with provincial ministers of state when he conducts the national tour.
Mpofu's statements come following revelations by Matabeleland North provincial minister Cain Mathema that most part of the province especially Nkayi, Tsholotsho, Umguza and Binga had bridges destroyed by heavy rains.
Chief Sikhobokhobo of Nkayi is also on record calling for government to repair bridges that were damaged by rains in his area.
"What I want to say that there are a lot of rains; they are not over yet. We have directed that all our road engineers in provinces take stock of the damage that has been caused by the incessant rains in the respective areas where damage of infrastructure roads, bridges has been experienced, for us to plan for the repairs of the damage," Mpofu said.
"I will be taking a tour of the provinces in liaison with the Ministers of State responsible for Provinces, to have an on the spot appreciation of the damage, before we deal with the situation if funding is available."
Mpofu however said he was aware of the massive destruction of the road infrastructure throughout the country as a result of the incessant rains.
"So, this is a matter which is of concern to us and we are dealing with it," Mpofu said.
