An MDC youth assembly group aligned to party leader Morgan Tsvangirai's faction took the rampaging internal purge against dissent into party's youth assembly with the suspension of secretary general Promise Mkhwananzi late last night.

Youth Assembly spokesperson Clifford Hatchway yesterday declined to shed light on the issue, but confirmed the assembly's national council had met.

Hlatshwayo confirmed that the youth assembly national council met to discuss a myriad of issues affecting young people and they will issue a statement containing resolutions and way forward.

MDC-T Chitungwiza yesterday also expelled Chairperson Alexio Musundire as infighting continues to rock the party.

This is despite claims by party leader Morgan Tsvangirai that the dust had settled and MDC-T was now more united than ever.

Musundire is understood to be a close ally of MDC-T SG Tendai Biti. Tsvangirai is said to have orchestrated Musundire's expulsion.

Meanwhile, Tsvangirai has urged party members to direct their energy towards dislodging President Robert Mugabe who he accused of running down the country  rather than calling for his resignation.

Tsvangirai at a rally over the weekend said those tired of fighting Mugabe must gracefully resign or take rest from politics.

Among officials calling for Tsvangirai's resignation party deputy treasury General Elton Mangoma who has since been suspended and sec general Tendai Biti who dismissed as null and void the suspension of Mangoma.
