MDC-T SA dismisses story on 'renewal' meeting
31 Mar 2014 at 10:27hrs | Views
The MDC SA would like to express its unqualified dismay with the article published on the Bulawayo24 website with regards to a purported 'renewal' meeting where some of our members are said to have attended.
To say we are shocked would be a total understatement.
Judging by the inaccuracies in the article it would seem Bulawayo24.com has decided not to let facts get in the way of any story. Not only is the article devoid of any truth it makes unnecessary and pointless references to alleged personal circumstances of members of the Party. To what end? Shame on you.
Not only is it a basic tenet of natural justice and but also good journalism practice to seek comment from the affected parties before you publish. Or so we thought.
In the meantime we still believe there is a lot of scope for your 'news source' to do the right thing not with respect to the published false 'news'. We rightly expect a retraction of the story.
The MDC SA Province is of the uncontested view changing elected leaders outside the processes prescribed in the constitution of the party is not renewal. It is called a coup d'état. Unfortunately our commitment to the democratic values that underpin the formation of the Party preclude us from participating in any activities of such a nature.
For the sake of clarity, none of the MDC SA executive members that were mentioned in the article attended any meeting, nor was such a meeting held.
We have total faith in the elected leaders of the Party led by Morgan Richard Tsvangirai.
