Zimbabwe to host Forensic Conference for Africa

This week Zimbabwe is set to host the third Forensic Conference for Africa, which is expected to highlight the latest developments in the field and provide up-to-date training in financial forensics.
The conference is scheduled to run from today until Wednesday under the theme "Fighting fraud/corruption and money laundering in Africa using investigative skills".
Vice President Joice Mujuru is expected to open the conference today.
Proctor and Associates Fraud Advisory senior partner, Mr Proctor Nyemba, Institute of Directors executive director Mr Edward Siwela and Ernst and Young senior partner Mr Nqaba Mkwananzi are also expected to speak.
Regional speakers include Forensic Certified Public Accountants society in Africa representative Mr Soothnes Bichanga, VOSCON managing director Mr Danny Myburgh, VOSCON managing partner Professor Theo Joseph, Investigative Software Solution senior manager, Mr Gilchrist Mushwana and Birzeit Consulting founder Mr Mohammed Masoud.
Mr Nyemba said the conference would help people obtain essential forensic accounting skills.
"This intensive three-day conference will help individuals and organisations obtain the fundamental and specialised forensic accounting skills that are required for the effective fight against fraud and corruption in corporations and governments in today's world.
"They will get a better understanding of the issues, tools and resources needed for forensic accounting and financial investigations," he said.
According to the organisers, the conference is designed to prepare forensic auditors with cutting-edge training and networking resources to effectively deal with constantly changing fundamentals in the field.
The international conference will also offer an opportunity to network with some of the most influential authorities and industry experts from various organisations in Zimbabwe and outside the country.
A number of Government officials and captains of industry are expected to attend the conference.
The conference is also targeting heads of: forensic auditing, accountants, investigations, fraud, security risk management, finance, anti-money laundering, information security, insurance practitioners, loss control managers, human resources managers and administration managers and other players that handle forensic accounting in organisations.
