Joseph Chinotimba might be the butt of every joke but to senior minister of State in the President's Office, Simon Khaya Moyo, he is in a league of his own.

Khaya Moyo told journalists in Harare yesterday during a reception on the sidelines of a donation of 600 litres of paint from a local paint company, that he was impressed by Chinotimba.

The donated paint will be given to Ekusileni Medical Centre, a facility built in honour of former vice president Joshua Nkomo.

The Zanu-PF chairman said he visited Buhera South a fortnight ago and he saw massive development in the constituency.

"I was impressed by the amount of work that he (Chinotimba) is doing in his constituency. These are the MPs we really acknowledge but we don't want MPs to be missing persons in their constituency and he has been very pronounced in Buhera South," Moyo said, eliciting a chuckle from Chinotimba, who was seated next to him.

Although some MPs have been lawmakers since independence in 1980, it is Chinotimba - who was elected as MP for the first time in the July 31 polls - who apparently seems to be making more progress.

"Every MP must be seen to be measuring up to expectations and we must be accountable to the people. People voted for us and we must be accountable to them through projects which improve the quality of their life."

Moyo said his party is getting tough with its MPs, as they are expected to deliver performance reports.
