The Zanu-PF Harare Province Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Department has encouraged vendors across the metropolitan province to be organised and to come up with one representative body which can lobby for their interests.

The department, which has expressed confidence in the ability of vendors to grow their business to a point where they can make contribution to the country's revenue base, says there is need for the sector to get representation.

In an interview ahead of a one-day capacity building meeting, Zanu-PF Harare Province Deputy Secretary for Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, George Mashawave said there is need for vendors to get organised so that they can engage government.

According to Mashawave, some of the issues set for deliberation at the one-day conference which is set for Monday the 14th of April at Zanu-PF Harare provincial office, include the role that the informal sector can play in the realisation of government economic targets and the need for a hassle-free operating environment for vendors.

Vendors have in the past appealed to the government to create a conducive environment for them so that they can earn a living without harassment from police and other law enforcement agents.
