A student at Midlands State University allegedly committed suicide last Friday in Rusape by hanging on a tree branch following a dispute with his aunt.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Luxson Chananda confirmed the incident.
"We are investigating a case in which Archbold Zimuto (22) hanged himself on a tree branch after having a misunderstanding with his aunt over an offence he committed in January," he said.
Asst Insp Chananda said Zimuto stole a computer and some plates from his aunt Joice Chipadza (50) and proceeded for his studies at MSU in January.
"Upon return for a semester break, Zimuto is alleged to have apologised to his aunt for stealing from her and the aunt advised him to wait for her husband for the issue to be resolved," he said.
After the conversation, Zimuto walked out of the house without saying a word only to be found hanging from the branch of a tree 10 metres away from the homestead by a passer-by.
