ZANU PF South Africa District would like to extend our best wishes to the President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Comrade R. G. Mugabe, the National Chairman of ZANU PF Comrade S. K. Moyo and Team ZANU PF, the courageous and hardworking people of Zimbabwe, as we celebrate the 34th anniversary of Zimbabwe's hard won independence on the 18th April.
The 34th anniversary celebration comes at a time when Zimbabweans have reaffirmed their support of President R. G. Mugabe and the revolutionary party to lead the country for the next five years. The July 31 2013 harmonised elections confirmed that as an independent people we are free to determine our leadership and destiny, and Zimbabwe will never be an appendage of any country again. It is for this reason and many others, that as ZANU PF SA and people of Zimbabwe we find these celebrations sweet and special.
ZANU PF SA reaffirms its support to the President Cde. R. G. Mugabe and the entire leadership of ZANU PF, and all its current efforts to transform the economy through Zim-Asset and attendant programmes. Cognisant of the challenges facing the country and envisaged programmes, ZANU PF SA urges the people of Zimbabwe to celebrate this independence day with great zeal and hope, because the 31st July 2013 ushered in a new sense of belief among people and countries, that Zimbabweans have a right to ensure total economic freedom through the ownership and control of the means of production. Certainly, Zimbabweans should acknowledge and celebrate this feat which no other country has ever attempted in history. We applaud our President and ZANU PF leadership for such foresightedness.
The 18th April affords the people of Zimbabwe an opportunity to take stock of the road travelled so far, the challenges and achievements made to date. As Zimbabweans we are proud that under the able and astute stewardship of President Mugabe, we have consolidated our political freedom by embarking on policies and programmes which will ensure total socio-economic emancipation. The economic empowerment and indigenisation programmes and the successful land reform initiated by ZANU PF have seen millions of ordinary Zimbabweans being empowered economically. The current economic blueprint Zim-Asset whose focus is to consolidate the gains of the economic empowerment and indigenisation programmes, and to turnaround the economy which has been under siege due to illegally imposed economic sanctions, is an initiative which needs the support of all Zimbabweans. All this is cause for us to celebrate.
ZANU PF SA believes the challenges of corruption and the illegal economic sanctions threatening the moral fabric and the socio-economic transformation of Zimbabwe, needs all Zimbabweans make an introspection in themselves and see whether they are still holding on to the objectives and ideals for which many young and old, men and women perished in the valleys, mountains and forests within and without Zimbabwe during the liberation struggle. We cannot afford to let down these gallant heroes.
As we celebrate the 34th anniversary, Zimbabweans need to remember that the selflessness of those who fought for this freedom, cannot and should not be sold on the altar for self-aggrandisement. Let us support and emulate President Mugabe who has remained principled and focussed to the cause of ensuring that Zimbabweans are dignified people, who have control over their country and resources, and have a right to determine their destiny. This is what independence is for and what it should mean to all Zimbabweans.
ZANU PF SA wishes that all Zimbabweans remain united under the Unity Accord and supportive of the government initiatives under the leadership of President Mugabe. Let us celebrate this great day with pride and hope, knowing that ZIMBABWE WILL NEVER BE A COLONY AGAIN.
HAPPY 34TH ANNIVERSARY!!
Long live ZANU PF
Long live Cde. R. G. Mugabe
