Govt warns against illegal resettlements

The government has warned district administrators, land officers and politicians who are illegally allocating land for resettlement to stop forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.
The Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Dr Douglas Mombeshora said investigations carried out by his ministry have shown that there is an increase in the number of people who are settling on state land or land reserved for other purposes without approval from the relevant authorities.
He said in Kadoma, more than 1500 families have been resettled illegally, while in Mhangura more than 500 families have settled on land that has been reserved for grazing purposes for farmers who were allocated a1 farms.
Dr mombeshora said the families that have been settled illegally are going to be removed and his ministry will take appropriate action against all those implicated in the illegal resettlement activities.
