Wife scalds hubby with cooking oil

An Epworth woman is facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly scalded her husband with hot cooking oil following an altercation over infidelity.
Harare magistrate Tendai Mahwe asked the 21-year-old woman Grace Muchawa to apply for bail at the High Court.
Muchawa is accused of attempting to kill her husband Bairon Mugoma on April 7, this year.
According to prosecutor Sharon Mashavira, the incident took place at around 11pm, when the two had an altercation, after Mugoma received a phone call from his former girlfriend.
The two exchanged harsh words, leading to Mugoma leaving the house. However, Muchawa locked the house and denied Mugoma the chance to leave.
Mugoma retired to bed and while he was fast asleep, Muchawa boiled cooking oil. She allegedly poured the hot liquid on Mugoma's face.
The court heard that Mugoma suffered burns all over his head.
He was later accompanied by his brother to report the matter to the police, leading to Muchawa's arrest.
Muchawa, who is represented by Obey Shava, was remanded in custody to May 22.
