MDC-T national spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora allegedly assaulted an MDC-T supporter near the party's headquarters Harvest House in Harare yesterday.
Police yesterday confirmed the incident saying Leonard Dendera was beaten up and kicked several times leading to an injury on the elbow of his left hand.
National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said investigations were in progress.
"We have received the report from (Leonard) Dendera, who claims to be an MDC-T supporter that he was walking along Nelson Mandela Avenue when he was attacked by Mwonzora and his colleagues," he said.
"It is alleged that he was drunk at the time when he heard people from a car pointing at him shouting that he was the one. When they got to where he was, they bundled him and forced him into the car before driving to Harvest house.
"Whilst in the car, they beat him up and kicked him several times asking him rhetoric questions. When they reached Harvest House, he managed to jump out of the car and escaped where he went to the police to report the case."
Chief Sup Paul Nyati warned that all perpetrators of violence would be dealt with.
Mr Mwonzora denied the allegations saying Dendera wanted to set Harvest House ablaze.
"I never assaulted anyone and have never assaulted anyone," he said.
"I use my brain and yesterday I can confirm that the security guards apprehended Leonard Dendere whilst he was trying to break into Harvest house.
"He was confronted by the security where he was dispossessed of his hacksaw that he wanted to use to cut the burglar bars.
"He also had two litres of petrol and a lighter and I can say he was trying to set Harvest House on fire. It just happened that I was dropping off some people at Harvest House where I found him already apprehended by our security.
"You can write what you think happened but this is just part of mudslinging by other people and this never happened."
More MDC-T officials and supporters are bearing the brunt as they are either thoroughly beaten up or assaulted by their own.
Last month MDC-T Harare North youth secretary for information Ms Angela Hwanyanya was allegedly attacked by her colleagues at Harvest House accusing her of belonging to a faction pushing for the removal of suspended party president Mr Morgan Tsvangirai from the helm of the party.
