MDC-T split: Tsvangirai warned against court process

MDC-T Harare spokesperson Obert Gutu has warned the Morgan Tsvangirai led faction not to take the legal route on the party's weekend spilt saying they would fall into a snare by the Tendai Biti led group.

Biti's group on Saturday suspended Tsvangirai, his deputy Thokozani Khupe, national chairman Lovemore Moyo, national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa and his deputy Abednicho Bhebhe.

"The rebels are daring us to go to court. Whatever we resolve in the historic MDC-T national council meeting on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, we should not go to court. We will be snared," Gutu  warned.

"Political parties are voluntary associations and those who feel the party is not meeting their expectations are free to leave and form their own party. These were the wise words of Honourable Justice Bharat Patel in the case of Arthur Mutambara and others versus MDC."

Gutu added, "Just let the rebels have their cake and eat it. Indeed, theirs is a contaminated dog's breakfast. It is a poisoned chalice. The rebels have given themselves the kiss of death.

"It is a hopeless stillbirth lacking in both political strategic thinking and legal precision. They will soon be choking. Watch this space."
