'Even if Tsvangirai approaches the courts he will lose'

The MDC first secretary-general, Professor Welshman Ncube, says the leadership wrangles in the MDC-T are a result of Morgan Tsvangirai's lack of leadership qualities.

He said it is highly likely that even if Tsvangirai approaches the courts he will lose the case as proper procedure was followed in suspending him from the leadership of the party.

Professor Ncube said current events are reminiscent of 2005 when the MDC split into two when he moved out with Gibson Sibanda and Tsvangirai rechristened it the MDC-T.

A political scientist, Dr Ibbo Mandaza and constitutional law expert, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, said the MDC-T should have solved their internal issues a long time ago.

The chaos that has rocked the MDC-T took another twist with the Morgan Tsvangirai faction making a counter move by expelling the party's secretary-general Tendai Biti and nine other senior officials and bringing forward the date of congress to October this year.

The move comes after the Biti group also claimed they had suspended Tsvangirai and six other top officials.
